Gingerbread Community

Wow! These kindergartens continue to amazing me with their creativeness! We have been talking about communities this week at school. Today students worked in partners and small groups to create parts of our larger community. They worked so well together and our gingerbread community turned out great! It is on display outside our classroom for the school to enjoy!

Moon and Sun week!

This week we learned about the moon and the sun. Students learned that the moon is lit by the sun, which is a star! We learned how the moon orbits the earth and the earth orbits the sun.  Students participated in activies to help them understand day and night and why sometimes we can see the moon and sometimes we can't! Enjoy some pictures from our week!

Thankful

As we approach Thanksgiving, I sit and reflect on what I am thankful for. I wanted to take a moment and share with you one of the things I am most thankful for. The 38 beautiful children that I am blessed to spend 5 days a week with and you. You send your children to school and trust me with their safety, education, and social/emotional well-being. You trust that I will show them how to have fun while learning and to love learning. For that, I am forever grateful and thankful. Thank you for being your child's biggest advocate and supporter, thank you for partnering with me to make the best kindergarten experience for your child, and thank you for trusting me. I wake up each weekday and look forward to my day. I look forward to seeing 38 beautiful smiles and seeing the "I got it!/I did it!" looks that they get when they get or accomplish something. I hope that you enjoy this Thanksgiving break with your loved ones and stay safe. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Last week we talked about what what we already know about Thanksgiving. We then read Thanksgiving Is by Gail Gibbons. We added what we learned to our chart of what we already knew. We then made a book called The First Thanksgiving that came home yesterday. In our book we retold the First Thanksgiving story and illustrated our book. Students enjoyed learning the why behind Thanksgiving!

We also read Turkey Trouble and shared the disguised turkeys that have been turned in so far. Students then made their own turkey hats! Enjoy the photos and in the words of the students, "gobble, gobble!"
